THE REDEEMERSCHURCH

Our History

The Church started at Ramoga Village during 2003. The first service was attended by 14 people, amongst them there were Magdeline Motloba, the mother to pastor BW Motloba, pastor OM Motloba, pastor BW Motloba's two brothers, namely Motloba Zacharia and Abia Motloba, Dick Motloba ,the three daughters of the pastor OM & BW Motloba namely Boipelo, Lethabo and Oratile, and the neighbours. The people indicated to pastor BW & OM Motloba that they would like to fellowship with them, from 2003 till january 2006 church services were conducted in the house of the late Zacharia Motloba, the brother to Buti William Motloba.

After few months, everyone went away except for the pastor's mother, the brothers and the pastor's 3 children. The church was left with only 7 members. Every Sunday pastor BW and his family were driving to Rustenburg which is about 171km trip. Other days there was no attendance during the church service except the pastor and his family. For about two years the church had seven members.

During February 2006 BW & OM Motloba purchased a tent an erected the same next to the sports ground in Moruleng junction to the road to Manamakgotheng in Raserapane section.

In 2006 a permit to occupy the land was sought and was obtained from Bakgatla-Ba-Kgafela Traditional Council, a council responsible for administering the land on behalf of Bakgatla-Ba Kgafela Tribe

During September 2006 Bakgatla-Ba-Kgafela Traditional Council gave the church notices to vacate the land. The pastors were called to a meeting and were told to leave the place.
The church did not leave. In 2008 February Bakgatla-Ba-Kgafela Traditional Council issued summons against the church.

The church defended the case. The church received a notice to appear in court at 9h00 on the 28th of February 2008. When pastor motloba, who was accompanied by pastor Vincent Letebele arrived at court at 8h30, they discovered that the magistrate had already given an eviction order against the church.

Our History

The church made an application for review at Mmabatho High Court. The church lost a case. The church decided to make an appeal, however Bakgatla-Ba-Kgafela Traditional Council started to negotiate with the church. As a result the court case was suspended.

The church during 2009 experienced a lot of different kinds of attacks also from the community. The church started to experience lots of strange storms which would pull the tent down, at some stages the tent would get torn apart. This was taking place almost every week. On the night of the 19th of December 2009 as pastor was praying with few of the church members, the weather changed so quick and started to rain with thunder.

The tent went down on top of the people who were praying. At all ultimate end everyone got out the tent. Pastor motloba and Dick Motloba, the son to Zacharia Motloba walked towards the car while it was raining. Suddenly a lighting stroked, Dick fell to the ground then the lighting stroked for the second time and this time it hit Zacharia Motloba, Letlhogonolo Modise, Angie Moitsheki, George Mabusela and Queen. Pastor took the injured to the hospital. Upon arrival at the hospital Zacharia Motloba was certified dead

The first Sunday of the burial, the church was fully packed with people who wanted to know what direction is the church going to take. Pastor read Hebrews 10;38-39 and told the church that there is no turning back. The church from the case of lightning faced different challenges, as parents and families stopped their beloved ones from attending the church. However the church did not compromise, it continued to have the services

In 2010 the church was given another land not to far away from where the tent was erected. The church relocated to the other place in the same vicinity. Trouble started again, this time the members of the community fought with the church. The community chose to build a shopping mall instead of a church .They chased the members out of the church, the police were called but they couldn’t help. Announcement were made in a local area for urgent meeting concerning the land.

Our History

The community took a decision to remove the church’s fence and tent. On Sunday when pastor arrived, he found thousands of people gathered at church, they took the tent out and also the fence. The church tent was consificated. After all this, many of the church members left, others joined other Christian churches while others went back to the world.

The number of the church members dropped from 200 to about 20-30 people. Despite all the challenges, the church continued to push forward. For about a year and a month, the church services were conducted in a open place(under the shade), in the yard of one of the church members, Mme Esther Ntshabele

It wasn’t easy because even some of the remaining members were discouraged. Pastor started a project of making clay bricks for the church’s building even without land or place to build the church

The church in the absence of a land, planned a revival for September 2011. Miracles happened during July 2011, the church bought a building which was meant to be a bakery .The “bakery” wasn’t in use for a long time. The Lord converted the “bread bakery” into a church(God’s bakery). As a result the revival took place from the 30th of September 2011 to the 2nd of October 2011. The church is now having a building which accommodates 2500 to 3000 members.

IF GOD IS FOR US WHO CAN BE AGAINST US.
